Valentine’s Day Preparations

I’ve been behind the scenes this past week enjoying time with my little girl, friends and the gym. I’ve also been hard at work with some projects, such as cards for upcoming challenges like VSN on SCS, invitations, and Day Care Valentine’s Day Treats, which will be the focus of today’s post.

Here’s my little girl, Lexi! She’s helping me make some heart-shaped crayons for her classmates. I’ve seen several posts around blogworld, on melting broken crayons to create new ones. They could either be multi-colored or the same color/shade.

I went through Lexi’s stash and to my surprise there weren’t many broken crayons. ( I think she has some OCD, because everything always has to be very neat with her). We took all of the broken and a few intact crayons and removed the paper layer from them.

After the paper was removed, I chopped up the crayons on a cutting board with my knife. I forgot to post a picture of that.

Afterwards, Lexi got to work filling the silicone molds with the crayon pieces.

Here’s a close-up!

The crayons were placed in the oven at 300C for about 8 minutes. The trick is you can keep them in there until they soften, and then stir with a toothpick. If you leave them too long they will completely melt and the colors will all mix in together.

For this first batch I mixed colors. I made 2 more batches afterwards, and I sorted them by color. I think they came out much better that way!

Here is the first batch after they came out of the oven. You let them cool and harden and then you can just pop them out of their molds.

It’s pretty simple and we had fun together making these. I have created a card to attach them to, which I will share later on!

One thing to point out:

Brown is not a good color to use, especially for little kids. It makes the crayon look like chocolate. We wouldn’t them to eat them now would we?

- color sorting is a preferred method for me, otherwise the crayons get a brownish/muddy looking color!

These silcone molds, bring 12 in a package- 6 red and 6 pink. I ended up purchasing two packs and separated the pink and the red hearts. The pink heart molds will be used for food, for example, muffins. The red heart molds will be used exclusively for crayons, and therefor not food safe. I not recommend using them for baked good after you’ve melted crayons in them. For storage purposes, I place them into 2 separate bags and clearly identified them as Food Safe, and NOT FOOD SAFE/ CRAYONS. This is so I can remember the next time I use them, which will most likely be next year!

For this first card, I thought it would be fun to let the designer paper do all of the work and just color the hot air balloon with coordinating colors. I also drew the 2 lines, to make it tricolor and for you to see that it’s easy to manipulate the image a bit.

How about that sentiment? I got it from The Circus Word stamp

For this second card, I followed the sketch below provided by Iwona. I think Riley looks like the “Flying Tomato” here, and really into the snowboarding.

What about those Kraft fun papers? I was honestly not too crazy about them when I first saw them. They looked so much better one the website. However they did not disappoint once I started using them. .

Day 3 of Sneak Peeks and a Riley challenge

Welcome back to the 3rd day of the Riley and Company Online release. Today I have an adorable little tag that I made for some preserves. I used Chef Riley and attached it around the mason jar.

It’s also challenge time, and this week’s challenge is brought to you by Laurie Clout. She’s challenged us to to create a punny birthday card, using ribbon and at least two embellishments. If you are interested in playing make sure to use the code Riley0212, when uploading to an online gallery.

As for punny, I handwrote a sentiment on the inside of the tag. I made it a double tag, so I can write a tiny message on the inside. It reads” What’s cookin’ good lookin?”.

There’s nothing better than getting a homemade treat on your birthday, well at least in my opinion.

Just some random thoughts and organizational tips.

First even though it’s been 24 days into the new year, I’ve been keeping to my resolution, where I resolved to not purchase any Designer Paper until 2013. It has not been as painful as I thought,well not yet at least, after CHA that may be a whole other story!

I tend to organize my 6x6 paper pads, in a storage box like this ( I have 3 that are filled)

For each pack of paper, I tear off the back of the pad, removing the thick cardboard piece. I keep it in a stash to use it as chipboard for other projects. Or at least it makes me feel better knowing that I will eventually recycle it into something purposeful. The other benefit is that it reduces the amount of space in the paper box! I do keep the front cover so I can take a peek and recall the papers (or most of them at least) and also note the name of the paper collections. It’s pretty easy because of the clear bags.

Also something else I recently started, was cutting down my 12 x 12 paper stash. I don’t scrapbook at all so it doesn’t make sense to keep it at that size.

What I’ve been doing is taking 4 coordinating patterns from a collection and cut them down to 6x6- what this means is that I get about 16 “new” 6x6 paper pads, without going shopping.

I also store them in a plastic baggie, and I put a sticky in the bag with the name of the paper collection so I don’t forget.

Riley sneak Peek Day #2- Yoga Riley (Sophie in this case)

Today marks the 2nd day of the Riley and Company Online release. I am featuring Yoga Riley on the card above. However, I changed Riley into Sophie, by adding a pink shirt. I’m going to be sending this card to a friend of mine, who has recently acquired an appreciation for yoga. I know she’s going to appreciate it!

For this card I was inspired by Jen Rzasa’s card below, from the CASE STUDY #74 Challenge.

I tried to follow along with the geometric patterns, by adding the big bright yellow sunray in the background, and also keeping the bright pink. In addition I like the plenty of white space with a simply black sentiment. Instead of following the layout I focused on the small elements present!

First day of Sneak Peeks- Riley Release!

Well what else is new, I’m playing along with this week’s MFT sketch challenge.

Kim, from MFT, rewarded many MFT fans, with gift certificates to the store that participated in last years sketches. I won a $52 gift certificate, for participating in all. How fun is that? Totally unexpected but completely appreciated.

This is completely different and uncharacteristic for me. My stamp room is on the second floor of my house, and I was too lazy (or hurting really badly) to go downstairs and get some Memento black ink. Instead, I stamped the image with Tim holtz Ink. The color was very light and therefore you can’t see if in the image. Well coloring was a lot harder than coloring in the black lines. This really tests your coloring skills and I need some major improvement. But it was a challenge after all, and one that I will most likely not be repeating!

CASE Study #73

I seem to be falling into the CAS style lately. I just love clean, modern cards! They tend to be faster to produce and are simply beautiful! I followed along with the CASE study challenge #73.

This is what I created with some new dies I received during Christmas:

The challenge s to use a negative die. I had these awesome dies that I got at Ellen Hutson, and they are Memory box dies. They are gorgeous, and EVERY SINGLE ONE of these cute hearts punched out easily!. I saved them to use as confetti on our dinner table for Valentine’s day. I always like to dress it up a bit.

TSG138- Paper Piecing

I created this super simple card for this week’s TSG challenge:

I wasn’t sure exactly what to create, and I didn’t have much time, so something simple was a must. The other requirement, is that I’m trying to use up stamps that have either never seen ink, or have been neglected for a while. This was obviously the case with this card!

With Valentine’s fast approaching, this is such a cute card for a special someone, especially a dog lover!

The only item that was paper-pieces was the heart. I uses a little scrap bit I had lying on my desk

I won the entire January release this month from the Greeting Farm, so I thought it would be fun to show off the goodies and participate in their challenges a bit more regularly.

This week’s challenge TGFM15 was to:

- USE Polka Dots – (which I forgot too, but thankfully Miss Anya’s socks and headband have them!)

- Use Pink- I think there’s plenty of that

- Use two ribbons – I used pink grosgrain, and then some trim

I also participated in the SFYTT. I’m a huge fan of sketch challenges, so this was a must for me. This sketch especially is so fun with so much potential, that it’s going into my favorites!

Happy New Year to all Riley Fans out there. Today is our first challenge for the New Year! The challenge is brought to us by Kelly Santi- and it is to show Riley having fun in a Winter Wonderland!

I personally don’t ski, I’m too afraid. I guess I would try cross-country skiing but nothing involving a hill/mountain etc. Especially after last years ankle sprain,,, Hell No! I’m still paying for that terrible sprain and probably always will.

Above is a close-up of the snow. I used Viva Pearl Pen. It’s a great product and dries rather quickly. It dries nice and smooth or you can add some texture like I did (acidentally). I was going to photograph the card, before it was dry, and it fell on the felt backdrop. It ended up being a happy accident because it created a little bit of fluffy snow.

Happy New Year!!! I’m so excited, this is the first MFT Sketch of the year. In 2011, I was able to participate in ALL of the weekly sketches, even though some were not finished on time, I still went back to play with my MFT goodies to catch up.

This year, we’ll see what life brings and if I’m able to do the same. It is a difficult record to beat after all!!

I started up the year, with a brand new stamp I have in my collection that has been uninked. This is also part 2 of my resolution, to get all my uninked stamps inked up!!!. I’ll show you a picture sometime later this month of all the stamps that have yet to be used. It’s a crime I tell you!

So here’s a close-up:

I couldn’t resist and for the cotton candy, I had to use some cotton, and sprayed it pink with my copic airbrush system. Simply adorable, and such a cute accent! What do you think about the cotton candy? It looks real enough and good enough to eat!

TSG137- New Year, New Start

Happy Happy New Year! Only 364 days left (it’s a leap year after all!)

As I look back on my goals from last year, stamping goals that it, I actually managed to achieve them. I wanted to get published and I ended up getting published in 4 magazines last year. I also got on several Design Teams and I have been very happy.

Since I’ve pretty much accomplished what I wanted to, this year I’ll just take whatever comes my way. My stamping resolution, is to not purchase any Designer Paper, at all! Nope none for personal use! If someone sends me a paper pack, well that’s a gift and a completely different story, and I may perhaps purchase a pack to give to someone, but I will not be buying any for me. Why??? Well take a look below:

Here is my 12x12 stash. It’s in a kitchen cabinet (old cabinets from when we first purchased the house) I used some of the cabinets in my stamp room.

As you can see it’s filled with patterened 12x12 paper. Sometime I cut some sheets down to 6x6, but you can see I have enough paper for the next decade!

Wait here’s some more on my shelf:

Let’s not forget 6x6 paper:

I have 4 photo boxes filled with 6x6 paper. These are usually on the shelf in my room by the 12x12 paper. I placed them on my table for a picture.

See what I mean? I don’t need any DP AT ALL. The first challenge, and big challenge is going to be this month, with CHA right around the corner!!! Sneak peeks are going to begin soon and the temptation will be there!

In keeping with my resolution, here is a card, using stamps that I’ve had for a while, as well as DP and embellishments! This sentiment is perhaps one of my favorites. It also coincides with a personal resolution of smiling more and being more positive. I’m known to always have a very serious face!

One more thing I am attempting to do at least twice a month, is to make Christmas cards. Honestly I’m all Christmas Carded out! however I own so many Christmas stamps and they need to be put to use. This weekend I’m going to go through my stamp stash, and pick out ALL of my christmas stamps, and attempt to use each one at least once this year. By December, hopefully I won’t have any Christmas cards to make! We’ll see if this pans out.

I created this cute little number for a double challenge with MFT. For the weekly MFT sketch challenge (which btw I've been able to make all of them!!!) and also for the Guest DT challenge for January which is paper piecing. I love paper piecing, it’s a great alternative to coloring!
Photographed is the card, and on the right is what the inside of the card looks like. I kept it simple with a heart accent. I paper-pieced the pajama, teddy bear and the lil' binky!

How cute is this for any little girl, or someone with big dreams?

What are your dreams for next year??? Funny how I don’t have anything big, perhaps to just to enjoy the small moments a little more!

TSG136- Thank You challenge

This week’s TSG challenge was to create a Thank You card in order to show some gratitude for Christmas gifts received.

Well I decided to keep it simple and also to get my stitch on. This is the card I came up with:

I thought I wouldn’t be showcasing anymore cards, but this was such a simple and easy one to create and I couldn’t pass it up. I used my favorite flower set, Sweet Pea, from There She Goes. I think this stamp set, out of all my stamps, must be the one I have used the absolute most! It’s so fun to color too!

Well this is the last Riley Challenge for the year and it’s a good one.

It’s challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog. The challenge hostess this week is Cindy Haffner . Today we are challenged to make a card and a matching envelope, or coordinating envie.

I used rockstar Riley. I had this 12x12 Rockstar Music DP hidden in my paper stash, perhaps for the last 3 years and managed to uncover it. I cut into it. Since most of the paper was black, I decided to cut out the frame that I used on the card. Clearly it is not my typical card, but I really wanted to make use of the DP with its musical notes, microphone and stars.

For the envelope portion, I just restamped Rockstar Riley in Red, and also added a strip of the DP from the frame. I added a tiny bit of bling too!

I’m sharing, what I hope to be the last of Christmas cards for this year. I made many of them and have not sent any out. Isn’t that awful??? I can’t part with some of them.

I have to say, I used a background Strip stamp from WPlus9 and I must say these background builders are awesome. They have an extra bit of an edge on the stamp, which make it easy for you to see the placement, especially when you are trying to align several rows like above.

There is no dp on this card, it is strictly stamps

The sentiment is from There She Goes Clear stamps, a mini stamp with a whole lot of possibilities!

Staggered Snowflake

I made this card for one of the VSN challenges on SCS.

It’s quite simple and took no time at all!!

- I die cute the snowflake on the Basic Grey card base, and lines the back with some double –sided DP.

- I cut out a piece of vellum a slightly larger than the snowflake die and adhered it to the same size piece of Scor-Tape 9the 6x6 sheets) and ran it through the Big Shot to cute out the snowflake.

- I removed the liner and added glitter to the vellum.

- Afterwards I just assembled the card and added a pretty red bow at the bottom for some contrast.

Well I found some “old” photos in a folder here on the computer and realized I never shared with you.

This card was created for MFT’s weekly sketch challenge #36, this was already about 3 months ago?? YIKES!

Well I used some fun Holiday paper by Echo Park, ribbon from May Arts, and the snowflake is from Spellbinders and just added some tinsel glitter to it.

I didn’t even stamp on it. I guess it just speaks for itself!

I created this card for MFT’s Weekly sketch challenge #49. It is actually quite similar to Jody’s card. In fact we used the same paper collection, just different papers! Great minds!! I tell ya! It’s almost like a “Who wore it better?” situation. In this case definitely Jody. Her work and photography is always amazing!

This month’s MFT Guest Designer Tag is called PLAY TAG!

I decided to play along with this celebration, and make a Champagne Bottle Tag. A friend recently got engaged, and what better way to celebrate than with champagne, or Asti Spumante??

I used this Cute Cute “ A la Mode- It Must be Love stamp” from MFT.

This card is deceiving because it looks like it was quick to make but believe me it wasn’t!

This is just the base of the tag. It looks so pretty just like that. Gorgeous designer papers make all of the difference!

I was really happy with this and although it looks like it could be used for a card, I’m glad I can make quick bottle tags at home and just alter them! Heck maybe I won’t make the card. There’s plenty of room to write a nice message on the back!

How funny is that. The entire stamp set is too funny!

I have to admit, I thought this was going to be a bit more difficult, but it really wasn’t. Frances’ tutorial was easy to follow. Who knows, you may be seeing more of these cards on my blog.

Here’s a frontal view of the card:

I stamped Gingerbread Riley and Sophie directly onto the DP and colored them. I didn’t want a plain white background and I took advantage of the distressed look. It created some shadows on the cookies themselves.

Riley Sneak Peeks Day #4

Welcome to Day #4 of the November Riley Release. Today I am showcasing Postage Riley. I steered away from the vintage DP that I’ve been using for the last couple of cards, and grabbed the Echo Park DP. It is so bright and colorful.

Of course, the snow needed to sparkle so I added a wee bit of glitter to it. When I was adjusting the close-up I realized I never colored the snowman’s nose! Oh well it is snowing right? It was meant to be white after all.

Riley Release Day #3 and lots and lots of pics!

Welcome to Day #3 of the November Riley Release. Today I am showcasing Old World Riley and as another stamp which is Percy as Max.

First is my card featuring Old World Riley with a cute little mouse!

little side note…. I absolutely cannot wait for black Friday sales on copic markers. I think I’m going to buy one Brown Refill for each of the browns available!!!

So how adorable is this image? I am still continuing to use the Basic Grey Jovial Paper for these riley cards! I think it coordinates perfectly with this vintage image!

Ready for my pet peeve? I absolutely cannot stand to see/make round cards that are semi round meaning that have a flat line at the top from where the cardstock was folded as such:

This is what it looks like when you remove it from the die:

This is how it looks like when standing up, and I can’t make a card that looks like that. I don’t know why but it just bothers me so much!!! Is it just me???

To hide that a flat edge, the best way is to just use a bigger circle (or the same size) and adhere it to the top and decorate it as you wish.

I chose to decorate it with some DP. I wanted to use two different layers, so I partially placed the green DP under the snowflake DP and lined it up and cut both pieces of DP at once. I obtained a full sized circle of the snowflake DP and a partial circle of the green DP.

You can see the piece that were cut out:

I just layered them on a scalloped circle and then adhered that onto the card base!

Here is an additional cute little project. This can either be used as a tag for a gift, or even a cute little ornament on your Christmas tree. The image is Percy as Max.

Welcome to Day #2 of the November Riley Release. Today I am showcasing Wreath Riley. I love this image and it’s pretty easy to color. You can also see that I added some height and dimension to the card.

Happy November! Well we’re already more than half way through the month and Before you know it Christmas will be here! But before I jump the gun, I definitely want to enjoy my favorite holiday of the year, which is Thanksgiving!

Welcome to Day #1 of the November Riley Release. There are many great samples for you to check out. This release is a great one filled with wonderful, winter and holiday Rileys!

My card features Hot Cocoa Riley. mmmmmmmmm something nice and warm with a few marshmallows sounds so good right about now! The DP used is from Basic Grey called: Jovial

I created this card a few week's ago for MFT’s weekly sketch challenge. I guess I haven’t been too diligent because I didn’t even keep track of the sketch #.

Nevertheless, these are always fun to create. This card, has a bit of a vintage feel to it with the lace, colors and floral patterns.

This stamp set from MFT, Thanks a Latte, is also a more dated on and I decided it was time to play with it a little bit.

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog. This I am hosting the challenge this week. The challenge is – NO COLORING! Sometimes I just want to make a quick card with no coloring (unless you have Riley’s already pre-colored) and wanted to challenge you to do it as well.

I went through my Riley collection, and found Cyber Riley. This poor Riley has been neglected as well. I picked up some fun “gamey” designer paper and went to work. This card is actually 3.5 x 5 and fits into a 4bar envelope. It’s also the perfect card to give to a little boy and a gift card, or my husband with an iTunes card!

RCC and TSG Challenge

This week TSG, has a great challenge to get get us into the Holiday mindset.

The theme is to create a Holiday Project. I simply made a card. This card is not the typical 4.25 x 5.5 size, instead it’s a 4 bar (3 x 5). I wanted to make a few smaller cards because I have a ton of 4bar envelopes! It’s all about the convenience!

I reached for an older TSG stamp set called Holiday Tags. All three stamps, the background, tree and sentiment are from that set, along with many others.

It’s simple, easy and cute and perfect to mass produce, as long as you don’t mind cutting out trees!

This card Is a bit different than what I tend to create! First it has flowers, which I even decided to color in.

One of my favorite things about this particular set from TSG is the shading that already exists. It makes it easier to color it in and add some depth.

Riley2211- Oldies but Goodies!

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog. This week our head moose Tanya has come up with the challenge which is Oldies but Goodies. You have to use stamps that were released over a year ago. What a perfect opportunity to bring out some of your loved yet neglected stamps.

For this card, I used PAINTER RILEY. I always envisioned a splattered background with this stamp. I just grabbed some ink pad cubes I had, and used the direct to paper technique to create the colorful background.

I couldn’t find the sentiment stamp I needed for this card. Keep in mind I actually have 2 that say : “You Color my world!” I just freestyled and incorporated my handwriting! After all it is artistic?! Right??

Another interesting tidbit about this card. I photographed it on the dashboard of my car. The colors came out beautiful and it wasn’t even a super sunny day!

I’ve been displaced out my home the last couple of days so everything is kind of everywhere including my mind. Since I had my camera and the card in my handbag, I had to take the picture right then and there!

We had a freakish nor’easter storm hit us on Saturday and got about 6 inches of snow which isn’t anything out of the ordinary. The problem, was because the leaves haven’t fallen from the trees, the snow accumulated on them and broke off many branches. Which in turn brought down powerlines. We were without power and it was restored yesterday. However we’ve been hanging out at my mother’s house and today I’m going to pack up my stuff and move back home.

We treated it as a little getaway, at a free hotel, and went to eat out pretty much for all three meals. It was nice actually to be away and catch up with some old friends.

With only so much time on your hands, it’s ok to double dip right?

I entered this card into My Favorite Things monthly designer challenge, and also my favorite Weekly challenges.

I tapped into my reserve of MME- Hattie Designer paper and made sure to use as many of the scraps I had laying around for this. I just love this paper and using it is a bit of a challenge.

I ended up using Butterfly Kisses once again. Presently this is my go to PI, mainly because of it’s simplicity and it’s easy just to paper piece only her body and move on with the card.

I adhered a snippet of May Arts Ribbon I had laying around, and of course added a ton of Bling. The bling was to fulfill the bling it on challenge requirement.

So would any of you be happy to receive a card like this in the mail?

I created this card for MFT’s Weekly Sketch Challenges. This was created for week #38, which was already 4 weeks ago!

My favorite type of cards, are ones that I don’t have to color and can just quickly stamp, assemble and get on with the next project.

This one seemed to fit that bill. I already had all of the accent pieces die cut in a little drawer. It was just a matter of assembling and stamping.

I wanted to showcase this one. It was totally inspired by this new DP that I purchased from IHP. It’s called Journey by Authentique. The color combination is just beautiful and calming. I think this card would work nicely as a masculine card.

I just love the simplicity of it. I also like the ease that beautiful DP brings in making quick cards.

Quick Card!

This is just a quick card I created. I wanted to create a spooky card, and wanted to play with my copic airbrush system.

I’m not super thrilled with the card, but in the end I did achieve the spooky effect. I heat embossed the images to make them pop a bit more.

It was just practice so next time it will be better!

However this is such a cute set, also from TSG- Bugs and Hisses.

Yep! It’s hard to believe that 42 weeks have flown by in 2011,and that there are only 10 more weeks.

I thought with 10 weeks to go to the end of the year, it would be great to have some type of goal in mind. Something to check off from your 2011 to-do list!

I think mine is going to be to take some more pictures of my daughter and I. I am always behind the camera, or camera shy, or just take them of her. I’m going to change that in the next few weeks!

My friend Joy, sent me a gorgeous card at the beginning of the year with this adorable PI image. Of course I had to buy it because it reminded me of my little girl (although, sadly, she’s a bit more grown up now.) I have used it quite a bit and love paper piecing her.

This set ZOOPENDOUS, by There She Goes, is part of the goodies I received last month. I got a chance to play with them this week. I needed some downtime and quiet time. The challenge this week was pretty interesting at TSG. It was to make a card using a partial image. I love this giraffe. It’s just so darn cute.

I also followed the sketch challenge for Card Patterns.

It’s such a cute card, but I absolutely love the sentiment, which makes it perfect for an adult as well.

Yes there was lots of diecutting, but once that part was done, these are actually quite easy to assemble:

I used some bling and sparkly ribbon to make them a bit more festive.

MFT October Guest Designer Challenge

Ok so this post is a little late on the blog but life is happening!

This was my entry for MFT’s guest designer challenge. I know I’m a little late posting it on the blog but who’s keeping tabs?

The challenge was to create some sort of packaging. I have this great pillowbox die, so I basically ended up taking my frustration out on the big shot and 6x6 designer paper! Essentially I cut out a bunch of pillowboxes and and glued them.

Along with the pillowboxes, I assembled some rolled flowers and die cut some tags. All the pieces are stored in this bucket along with scissors, adhesive and scraps of ribbon. Now anytime I have a girly birthday approaching and also Christmas gifts, I can quickly snag a pillowbox and alter it right away.

Shoebox Swap

Last weekend I co-hosted a shoebox swap with my friend Cammy. It was nice to see my SBS stamping friends. The ladies are great and the swaps are phenomenal! They are truly so creative, I absolutely love what they create.

Over the next couple of days I’ll be showing you some of the cards that we made and what we swapped.

For today I have a little tag that we made as part of a Make n’ Take. It was to put on these cute Popcorn Treat bags!

This was a very cute and VERY easy tag to make.

I have to give a special shout-out to THERE SHE GOES!!! (TSG). I won last month’s awesome release and have had limited time to play with the goodies. But I knew I wanted to use the some of the sets and new dies for the SBS.

The stamp set featured is from TSG and called Hauntingly Delightful. It’s such a cute stamp set with fantastic halloween images. Also do you see the cute web die??? Well that was one of the new dies released. All I have to say is AWESOME!

The die works wonderfull on the big shot, and all those little piece in the web do not get stuck to the die, so you don’t have to worry about removing any of them from the die. As for removing them from the paper, you just have to flick them with your finger and that’s it!

I hope you enjoy this cute tag! I have a few and plan on giving them away to special Trick-or-Treaters that come to my house!

I created this cute pillow box over the summer. It was for a SBS gathering with some of my good friends- Jackie- Joy- Rae Anne- Sandye and YooRah.

This box makes for a very cute gift card holder, or a gift box for jewelry or something tiny.

It was so easy to use with wide ribbon and the cosmo cricket glubers!

Because I never got to post it before, I’m entering it into the RCC22 challenge!

I followed this sketch:

First up I am showcasing Marilyn Mooseroe. How adorable it this image? I needed to use something glamorous and feminine to represent her. I decided to use soft colors this time around, and here is Sophie one of Marilyn’s most famous pose.

Next we have, Sophie O’Hara. Can you believe that I had never seen Gone With the Wind until this past summer when I was on the trial version of Netflix?! Yep that’s true! I saw it and loved it. I definitely wanted to color her dress in the emerald green color similar to Scarlet’s signature dress in the movie. I like the way it was colored, although that’s always a challenge for me. To avoid coloring, I would end up paper-piecing. I also wanted to have a more vintage and regal feel. After all Scarlet always had high aspirations and was relentless.

My card features Riley as Cat”Moose”. Originally, I wanted to create this card with different shades and textures of black. I wanted to look sleek and sexy because to me that’s what CatWoman portrays. However while looking through my DP collection, I really couldn’t find anything that would work. BatMoose Riley!!! the Sneak Peeks continue all week long!

My card features Riley as Bat”Moose”. I love the modern lines and simplicity of this card. It’s perfect for a male of any age! I substituted the line of solid paper for the eyelet circles.

This is the first day of Riley & Company’s September Release Peeks and we’re all just having lots and lots of fun with this. This release is my favorite of all and consists of 18 new Riley images. You will be able to get it all on September 29th, 2011, which is almost here! The design team will begin showcasing some sneak peeks of the new Riley release. Riley is going to the MOVIES!

My card features Sophie as Bridezilla. With Halloween only a little over a month away, I just thought she would be perfect. I don’t make many, if any, Halloween cards. Consider this one a special treat.

Because her dress is white, I wanted to add a little something more and therefore I used some shimmer. I painted on a thick coat. It’s subtle but looks beautiful. You can see it better in the picture above.

Here is a little close-up of the bats that were punched with the edger die. I decided to use them as little accents on the card.

Quick Card

I made this card a while back and realized that I never posted. Actually there are three cards in this “series”. Since I haven’t had much stamping time, I’m just going to drag out a bit the posting of all of them.

This stamp if from a Unity set, and I just stamped it directly on some older SU! designer paper. I added some twine and some buttons.

It’s so simple, a bit vintage but I think it looks nice.

TSG turns 3… (a little tutorial)

… and that means TSG is celebrating all month long. This first challenge is to create a paper doll. I decided to create a little finger puppet with one of the cute mini stamp sets from TSG. Also this challenge was pretty easy and I can see myself creating a few more and later playing with my little girl!

1. First color and cut out your image of choice.

2. Cut out a circle with a die cut and make a slit halfway through the circle. (Sorry I don’t have a picture posted. I took the pic, edited it and now I can’t find it… oopsie!)

3. Take the slit and roll it around nice and tight and form a cone. You want to make sure it’s a tight fit, so it doesn’t fall off when you have your puppet on. I ended up just using regular tape to hold it in place.

4. Add some Scor-Tape on the oustide seam and stick it to the back side of the paper doll.

5. This is the view from the side!

6. Voila! This is the frontal view. Makes a cute paper doll/finger puppet right? Trust me it was so much easier than making a card, that’s for sure! The trick is that the cone you make is hidden behind the puppet.

I used Soccer Riley and Golf Riley. I’m not really showing team spirit, but rather sports I like to watch. Growing up soccer was always on TV. My dad is a big soccer fan so it was pretty much on 24/7. We watched a lot of European soccer for that matter.

A Love Letter

I created this card for my husband. He’s too good to me and I just wanted to make something for him.

When I was browsing through my stamps this particular sentiment stood out and that’s when I started to create.

I used warm colors, distressed paper, I wanted it to have a vintage and romantic feel.

Triple Challenge Card

As the end of summer approaches, and I’m getting geared up to go back to work and establish a new routine, stamping becomes part of that routine.

It felt so good to finally stamp a card just for the heck of it.

I practiced some editing tricks with PSE8, and I followed these instructions religiously and I really like how the photo turned out. It makes a big difference. Just scroll through my blog and you’ll be able to see the difference.

Amy Sheffer, from Pickle Paper Designs posted these simple instructions on SplitCoastStampers on how to edit your photos and make them more blog worthy and appealing.

I’m entering this card into 3 challenges:

- TSG122- One Layer with a pop- This is the challenge the card was initially for. Some reason I thought it was a CAS card with a pop, and not one layer. Can we just pretend that the Charcoal base doesn’t exist?? It would look good on it’s own anyway!

- RCC18- All Tied Up – Challenge is to use 2 or more ribbons, twine, whatever comes in a spool. I used 2 different colored twine and twisted them to make the chain for the bird cage.

-CASE study 55- I had no intention in participating in this challenge originally. But I came across this card by Cristina and I hade to CASE it. I love her work it’s simple and elegant. I changed up the colors and my images are on the left, while hers is on the right. But as you can clearly see the concept is all hers.

This weekend marks the unofficial end of summer, at least for us up here in the northeast.

Vacation

I like the layout and how this card was completed except for the little thank you card in the middle. I should have placed something else. Perhaps something that would take up a little more space in the circle such as a colored image or a bigger tag.

I’m not a fan of purple and green at all! and I’m not sure what exactly I was thinking when I created this. I think I had something in mind and it just completely fell apart.

I created this card for MFTs Weekly Sketch Challenge. It favors an oldie but goodie set from MFT called Ooga booga, perhaps one of my favorite sets.

As for the sentiment, because these are clear acrylic stamps, they are flexible enough to warp. I slightly bent the stamp to fit the inside of the circle!

PTI Swap

Lately, this color combination and layout have been one of my favorites. I used this exact sketch for a mini shoebox swap with some of my friends. Now I made this card for a PTI swap on SCS. I will also be replicating this card for a shoebox swap in October.

I just love the simplicity and the elegance of this card. Not to mention the ease of recreating and making multiples.

Because I made quite a few of these, I used Embellie Gellie to help me pick up the tiny pearls and correctly place them.

PTI Tag

Tags are actually one of my favorite things to do. I think it’s because they’re small, different and quick to make. This particular tag was made for a PTI swap that I am in. The category is to make card candy, which is an accent piece that can be used on a card. This will add just the right touch to a card and come coordinating DP.

All the stamps and dies used are from PTI. The leaves are from Prima Flowers, and of course I used ScraPerfect’s Best Glue ever to adhere the leaves and the button.

MFTWSC30 and Homemade Glue Dots

Amy, the owner of ScraPerfect shared with us such a fantastic idea of using ScraPerfect’s Best Glue Ever to make Glue Dots! I thought to myself… “Yeah Right!”

Well it’s super simple and I decided to give it a try, mostly because it looked simple and I had run out of glue dots.

All you have to do is get some wax paper or, in my case I used a left over strip of glue dots.

- Dab some dots onto the strip and you can practice by using different sizes.

- Let it dry for a few minutes about 15 or so.

What happens is that it gets tacky and it’s perfect to use as a glue dot and it comes off the wax strip intact.

After I was done I just rolled up the strip and put it aside for future use.

These came in handy. I used the smaller dots to adhere the tiny bow onto the card. It’s great that you can customize the size of the dots according to your needs!

I also made this card for MFT’s Weekly Sketch Challenge #30. I realized I didn’t participate at all during the month of July and decided to catch up on them. So within this next month you will be seeing the past sketches.

Riley Challenge and FS235- Embossed

It’s challenge time again over at the Riley and Company blog. This week our hostess for the challenge is Kelly Santi and she has challenged us to Oceans of Fun with Riley! Bring out your nautical side! Use a boat, ocean, beach image and include the colors of red and blue!

I used Scuba Riley which was just release last week at Riley and Company.

I also participated in the Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS, which one of our very own Design Team members, JOY, is being featured.

I decided to CASE this card that she made- ZIPLINE RILEY.

I changed the following things: color combo, shape of image, inverted sketch, and used seaweed instead of the clip. I also copied her use of bauble as bubbles from a totally other card she had made.

I embossed this image because I wanted to try out one of ScraPerfect’s product which is called the,Perfect Crafting Pouch.

Perfect Crafting Pouch is great to deactivate stickers and is antistatic also which is perfect for embossing. Since the cardstock I was using is white and embossing in black, I really didn’t want any mess.

Here are a few snapshots of the process:

- First you tap the pouch a bit to make sure the powder inside is exposed. Then you rub it on the area you are planning to stamp on:

Ink up your image with Versamark ink. You can sort of see a watermark image below:

Poor the embossing powder over the image and shake off the excess. As you can see the powder just stayed on the ink and not on other parts of the cardstock.

I had a little collecting tray made out of paper. This was to collect to unused embossing powder. As you can see there were specks of powder on the tray. So I used this cute little clean up strip, also from ScraPerfect to clean up the mess. It’s called the Perfect Cleaning Cloth. It’s great to pick up little things like embossing powder and especially glitter, because you know that gets on everything.

I cleaned it up and the tray is clean, and you can see that the cloth picked up the embossing powder and some other little pieces of paper.

Also to make my life easier, I use the embellie gellie, not only to pick up tiny bling, but also to pick up other small items, like these baubles or buttons. I also used the Best Glue Ever for adhering the baubles onto the image.

More Embellie Gellie and The Best Glue Ever

This cute and simple card was easy to make with some die cuts, stamps and designer paper. But what helped the most was using Embellie Gellie and the BEst Glue Ever, both from ScraPerfect.

We all know that it’s the details that take up the most time in card making. In this case it was adhering the tiny bling and the pennants on the twine.

For the bling I used Embellie Gellie to pick up the stones. I put a tiny glob of Best Glue Ever on a scrap piece of paper and lightly touch the bling on the glue and then stick it to the paper. As for the pennants, I added a small dab of glue behind each pennant and then put it on the twine and it held just fine.

Although, I am on the DT for ScraPerfect, I have to say that I have been a huge fan of Embellie Gellie for quite some time and it is the product that I always go to. As for the Glue I have just recently become acquainted with it, and for sure I will be purchasing more. It is a fantastic product and mess free.

We are a group of friends that met about 3-4 years ago and have traveled all over the country to meet and stamp with each other. While we still remain friends and will have occasional get togethers we decided to stop with the challenge blog. It had been fun but it is time to just let it go.

30 and fabulous!

I made this card for my friend Carolina who turned 30 a few weeks ago.

I cut out the number “30” on the cricut and used the Hello Kitty Font cartridge. I always turn to this cartridge for fonts for some reason. I cut out the double ended banner, and because I didn’t have a “and fabulous” stamp, and because I didn’t want to print it out I just grabbed a blue micro tip marker and wrote it in.

As for the gluing everything together, I usually use tape adhesive, except for small intricate areas such as the numbers. I adhered the numbers with the Best Glue Ever, by ScraPerfect. It always seems to get the job done. As for the embellishments I used Embellie Gellie, also by ScraPerfect, to pick up the bling and stick them on the numbers.

This card features Welcome to Las Vegas Riley and Sophie. I added some bling around the sign for more of a Las Vegas feel. I have to say that I just love this card, because I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago with some of my dear friends. We had such a great time. We got to see La Reve, and that was probably one of the best shows I have seen. I definitely recommend and I would love to see it again. It’s completely inexplicable and it’s just so incredible.

Here’s the second card for the day:

This second card features Tourist Riley and also Mt. Moosemore. I wanted to feature just Mt. Moosemore, but this release is just so jam packed with images, that I needed to throw another one in there, so I added tourist Riley. I have never been to Mt. Rushmore, and it’s definitely a place I would like to go an visit. Perhaps when we officially decided to take a tour down Rte.66 will take a small detour. Now that would be fabulous.

This is the Fourth day of Riley & Company’s July Release Peeks and we’re all just having lots and lots of fun with this. This release is HUGE and consists of 24 new Riley images. You will be able to get it all on July 28th, 2011. The design team will begin showcasing some sneak peeks of the new Riley release. Riley is going on Vacation!

Today is also challenge time again. This week it is Sarah's turn to host the challenge, and it's a Recipe Challenge: R is for a Riley Recipe - create a card or project incorporating the following - Riley, Red Ribbon, and Rhinestones! I think I met all the criteria!

My card features Or Bust… Riley. Since I wanted to coordinate with the Challenge, I decided to go with Canada. My friend Joy, is very clever in using everyday items, and I followed her suggestion by just printing out a Canadian map and using it directly on the card. I’ve been to Canada several time, but only on the east coast. I’ve been to the Niagara Falls, Montreal and Quebec. All of which are just beautiful!.
