It’s challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog.  The challenge hostess this week is the famous Frances, aka Stamp Owl!. Today we are making a Center Step Card, be sure to click on the link as Frances put together a fabulous tutorial!

I have to admit, I thought this was going to be a bit more difficult, but it really wasn’t. Frances’ tutorial was easy to follow. Who knows, you may be seeing more of these cards on my blog.

Here’s a frontal view of the card:

I stamped Gingerbread Riley and Sophie directly onto the DP and colored them. I didn’t want a plain white background and I took advantage of the distressed look. It created some shadows on the cookies themselves.

Riley Sneak Peeks Day #4

Welcome to Day #4 of the November Riley Release. Today I am showcasing Postage Riley. I steered away from the vintage DP that I’ve been using for the last couple of cards, and grabbed the Echo Park DP. It  is so bright and colorful.

Of course, the snow needed to sparkle so I added a wee bit of glitter to it. When I was adjusting the close-up I realized I never colored the snowman’s nose! Oh well it is snowing right? It was meant to be white after all.

Riley Release Day #3 and lots and lots of pics!

Welcome to Day #3 of the November Riley Release. Today I am showcasing Old World Riley and as another stamp which is Percy as Max.

First is my card featuring Old World Riley with a cute little mouse!

little side note…. I absolutely cannot wait for black Friday sales on copic markers. I think I’m going to buy one Brown Refill for each of the browns available!!!

So how adorable is this image? I am still continuing to use the Basic Grey Jovial Paper for these riley cards! I think it coordinates perfectly with this vintage image!

Ready for my pet peeve? I absolutely cannot stand to see/make round cards that are semi round meaning that have a flat line at the top from where the cardstock was folded as such:

This is what it looks like when you remove it from the die:

This is how it looks like when standing up, and I can’t make a card that looks like that. I don’t know why but it just bothers me so much!!! Is it just me???

 

To hide that a flat edge, the best way is to just use a bigger circle (or the same size) and adhere it to the top and decorate it as you wish.

I chose to decorate it with some DP. I wanted to use two different layers, so I partially placed the green DP under the snowflake DP and lined it up and cut both pieces of DP at once. I obtained a full sized circle of the snowflake DP and a partial circle of the green DP.

You can see the piece that were cut out:

I just layered them on a scalloped circle and then adhered that onto the card base!

Here is an additional cute little project. This can either be used as a tag for a gift, or even a cute little ornament on your Christmas tree. The image is Percy as Max.

 

Below is a close up of the image. Notice that I added a little dusting of sparkle to the ornaments. Since there aren't’ many embellishments, I thought that would be a nice touch. A simple touch to compliment the overly busy DP.

Welcome to Day #2 of the November Riley Release. Today I am showcasing Wreath Riley. I love this image and it’s pretty easy to color. You can also see that I added some height and dimension to the card.

Happy November! Well we’re already more than half way through the month and Before you know it Christmas will be here! But before I jump the gun, I definitely want to enjoy my favorite holiday of the year, which is Thanksgiving!

Welcome to Day #1 of the November Riley Release. There are many great samples for you to check out. This release is a great one filled with wonderful, winter and holiday Rileys!

My card features Hot Cocoa Riley. mmmmmmmmm something nice and warm with a few marshmallows sounds so good right about now! The DP used is from Basic Grey called: Jovial

I followed Iwona’s Sketchbook Saturday and created the fun card above. I’m actually pretty impressed with myself!

MFTWSC??

I created this card a few week's ago for MFT’s weekly sketch challenge. I guess I haven’t been too diligent because I didn’t even keep track of the sketch #.

Nevertheless, these are always fun to create. This card, has a bit of a vintage feel to it with the lace, colors and floral patterns.

This stamp set from MFT, Thanks a Latte, is also a more dated on and I decided it was time to play with it a little bit.

TSG130- Recipe Challenge

This week’s TSG challenge is to create a card that includes:

- a bird

- snowflakes

- ribbon and/or buttons.

So, this is what I came up with:

It was based on this card I made last week- TSG129. I’ve been into CAS cards lately and I guess I just wanted to keep up with the trend!

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog. This I am hosting the challenge this week. The challenge is – NO COLORING! Sometimes I just want to make a quick card with no coloring (unless you have Riley’s already pre-colored) and wanted to challenge you to do it as well.

I went through my Riley collection, and found Cyber Riley. This poor Riley has been neglected as well. I picked up some fun “gamey” designer paper and went to work.  This card is actually 3.5 x 5 and fits into a 4bar envelope. It’s also the perfect card to give to a little boy and a gift card, or my husband with an iTunes card!

I have participated in all of the MFT challenges this year, except I haven’t posted them on my blog that regularly.

Here is a fun card I made using one of last month’s sketches. The stamp is an A La Mode. They are such cute girls!

So is your end of the year as crazy as mine? I feel like I’ve been running all over the place and can barely catch my breath!

RCC and TSG Challenge

This week TSG, has a great challenge to get get us into the Holiday mindset.

This is the second card I made for the challenge. I just couldn’t help using the Holiday tags stamp set.

I reached for an older TSG stamp set called Holiday Tags.and just stamped a single snowflake on each of the squares!

It’s simple, easy and cute and perfect to mass produce.

I was inspired by this layout and color scheme:

TSG129 Holiday Projects

This week TSG, has a great challenge to get get us into the Holiday mindset.

The theme is to create a Holiday Project. I simply made a card. This card is not the typical 4.25 x 5.5 size, instead it’s a 4 bar (3 x 5). I wanted to make a few smaller cards because I have a ton of 4bar envelopes! It’s all about the convenience!

I reached for an older TSG stamp set called Holiday Tags. All three stamps, the background, tree and sentiment are from that set, along with many others.

It’s simple, easy and cute and perfect to mass produce, as long as you don’t mind cutting out trees!

Triple challenge Card

This card Is a bit different than what I tend to create! First it has flowers, which I even decided to color in.

One of my favorite things about this particular set from TSG is the shading that already exists. It makes it easier to color it in and add some depth.

Riley2211- Oldies but Goodies!

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog. This week our head moose Tanya has come up with the challenge which is Oldies but Goodies.  You have to use stamps that were released over a year ago. What a perfect opportunity to bring out some of your loved yet neglected stamps.

For this card, I used PAINTER RILEY. I always envisioned a splattered background with this stamp. I just grabbed some ink pad cubes I had, and used the direct to paper technique to create the colorful background.

I couldn’t find the sentiment stamp I needed for this card. Keep in mind I actually have 2 that say : “You Color my world!” I just freestyled and incorporated my handwriting! After all it is artistic?! Right??

Another interesting tidbit about this card. I photographed it on the dashboard of my car. The colors came out beautiful and it wasn’t even a super sunny day!

I’ve been displaced out my home the last couple of days so everything is kind of everywhere including my mind. Since I had my camera and the card in my handbag, I had to take the picture right then and there!

We had a freakish nor’easter storm hit us on Saturday and got about 6 inches of snow which isn’t anything out of the ordinary. The problem, was because the leaves haven’t fallen from the trees, the snow accumulated on them and broke off many branches. Which in turn brought down powerlines. We were without power and it was restored yesterday. However we’ve been hanging out at my mother’s house and today I’m going to pack up my stuff and move back home.

We treated it as a little getaway, at a free hotel, and went to eat out pretty much for all three meals. It was nice actually to be away and catch up with some old friends.
